Transom Angle: A carpenters square is a simple means of measuring the transom angle. Place a carpenters square with the long leg tight against the keel and the short end contacting the transom. Note the measurement on the top inside of square. Each 1/4" is equal to one degree of angle. For example if the measurement is 3 1/2" then the transom angle is 14 degrees.
